Step Down Housing & Connection Support

Bridging the Gap Between Clinical Care and Independent Living

At No1 Healthcare, we understand that the journey to recovery doesn't end when a hospital stay does. Transitioning from a secure clinical environment back into the community can be challenging. Our Step Down Housing – Connection Support service is designed to bridge that gap, providing a safe, supportive, and psychologically informed environment where individuals can rebuild their confidence and skills before returning to independent living.

What is Step Down Housing?

Our Step Down service is a specialized housing solution for individuals recovering from mental health crises or stepping down from long-term inpatient care. For many, a clinical ward is no longer necessary, yet immediate independent living may be too overwhelming.
We offer a "middle ground"— a structured, residential setting that balances freedom with the necessary clinical and emotional support. This ensures a smoother, safer, and more sustainable transition back to the community.

Who Is This Service For?

We support individuals with complex needs who require a greater level of input and preparation before full discharge. Our service is ideal for:
Individuals stepping down from secure hospital settings or acute mental health wards.
People recovering from a mental health crisis who need a stabilization period.
Those who require support with complex risk management, medication, or re-learning daily life skills.

Connection Support: Our Approach to Recovery

We believe that recovery is a personal journey, not a checklist. Our Connection Support model focuses on the individual’s strengths, not just their diagnosis.

Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE)

Our housing is designed to be therapeutic, offering a stable atmosphere that encourages healing and reduces the risk of relapse.

Re-learning Life Skills

We don't just provide care; we enable independence. Our carers assist with daily living tasks, budgeting, and self-management to build resilience.

Clinical Oversight

Where necessary, our service includes regulated activity, such as medication management and personal care, overseen by clinically qualified staff who work in partnership with community mental health teams.

Multidisciplinary Team

Our dedicated team provides modern, appropriate interventions tailored to individual needs, ensuring a holistic pathway to recovery.

Connection Support: Our Approach to Recovery

Reduced Hospital Stays

We facilitate earlier discharge from hospital wards by providing a safe alternative for continued recovery.

Prevents Relapse

By offering a graduated path to independence, we significantly reduce the "cliff-edge" effect of sudden discharge, lowering the risk of readmission or crisis.

Personalized Freedom

Residents enjoy greater autonomy than in a hospital setting, helping them reconnect with their identity beyond being a "patient."

Cost-Effective Quality Care

Our service provides a high-quality, focused alternative to acute beds, often delivering better long-term outcomes for individuals and families.
